Evaluation part 3

I received a  range of feedback from my audience, ranging from the age of 17-24 , In the image above was a friend who had sent me a comment on my video after I had put a link on my twitter page, she is 18. She mentioned she could see where I was going in notion of the Gothic theme and she was impressed with the different range of filters and tones I used within my video.
Initially I sent out a questionnaire, as follows:

 Questionnaire for music video research

1. What is your age?

2. What Gender do you identify with?

3. What is your ethnicity?

4. Who is your favourite music artist?

5. What is your favourite genre of music?

6. What is your favourite genre of movie? (comedy, romance, horror.... etc)

  • Bukky, was 18 years of age, she's a female, African, her favourite music artist is Frank Ocean and her favourite genre of music is hip hop/ r'n'b, her favourite movie genre is action and horror films.
She therefore fits into my target audience perfectly. not only is she of the age range but her interests ensure the style of my music video would entice and please her.

Monica was also very enthusiastic about my music video. She mentioned the editing for the lip synching is something that particularly impressed her which was pleasing for me as I had tried very hard to make sure the editing of the lip synching was on time with the lyrics. She also mentioned she enjoyed the different range of shots I used. I was aiming to impress the audience and give a variety of different shots hence why I included panning shots, mid-shots, long-shots, extreme close ups and zooms in and out. This was important to add variety to the music video as some of the scenes were similar or repetitive.

This commenter on my YouTube page mentioned they liked the different forms of wipes and fades to transition into the next scene. I chose to use a lot of fade to black and wipes when transitioning from one scene to the next, this was important as it allowed the music video to flow and helped with the continuation of the music video. They also mentioned the lip- synching was really well tuned with the song. Which was a difficult process to perfect but I feel with the revised use of Final cut pro I was able to achieve a great final result. They also gave me great constructive criticism to work from. They mentioned that there could have been more of a story line to follow. if i was to complete the project again I would certainly add more of a story line so that the music video had more direction. However with this being said, I decided to concentrate on the performance based parts of my music video, this way I could emphasise the accuracy of the lip synching. Therefore I added different filters such as split screens which enabled be to add variety to the music video.
